Allstate Insurance Marketing Failure11.05.10

I spent some time at Adtech NYC last week. We had a table set up for OfferMobi (#1356), and I got to talk to literally hundreds of advertisers, affiliate managers from CPA networks, affiliates, cool people…

One of the highlights for me was meeting Jonathan Mizel. My buddy Donovan told me he was a cool guy, but hearing about it & experiencing it are two different things. (Translation: he’s a really awesome guy).

I’ll upload a pic of us in front of the OfferMobi sign once I snag it from his facebook…

Oh, who am I kidding. I update this blog maybe once every 3 months…You’d better just go check it out on facebook.

Anyway, as the title of this post states, someone in the Allstate marketing department really should be fired.

Was taking the BART from SFO to OAK to pick up the car (wife flew out after me from a different airport & gets back later tonight), when I saw this advertisement.

(If you’re not familiar with the BART, it’s the “Bay Area Rapid Transit” – the train system that connects San Francisco with the East Bay).

Really? Philadelphia? WTF?

I don’t want to get anyone in trouble, but COME ON!

I think I’ll create a facebook page for marketing failures. This will be my first post there. I invite you to post your own marketing failures. It’ll be fun.

(Will let you know when it’s all set up).

Looking forward to your comments on this one…

Leaving Toms River08.01.10

I was thinking the other day…

I’ve been doing a lot of driving lately, and carrying things, and moving things, and packing (for those of you who didn’t know, I’m moving from NJ to California).

So anyway, I’ve had a lot of time to think.  Or not to think – to just clear my mind.

Which means lots of stuff just randomly coming up.

So I was thinking, what if you only met people when they were doing something they loved?  Or talking about something they loved?  Excited, bright eyes, shining from the inside.

How beautiful everyone would look!

And then, what if you did everything as if it was your favorite thing in the world?  Everyone would be drawn to you and to your energy.

Sometimes, we just have to decide to do that.  It’s what makes the world a better place.  It’s what makes running your business that much easier, that much more enjoyable.

It sure made taking out 23+ loads of garbage much nicer on my last day in Toms River.

Building an Internet Marketing Business: Morals05.31.10

I’ve been putting some thought into my business-building tactics. My MLM business has always been second to anything else I’ve done online. Don’t get me wrong – it’s not that it has no potential, or that I don’t believe in it; that couldn’t be further from the truth…

It’s just that I have a problem selling things to people who will never use them.

Yep, you’ve heard the statistic, right? 97% of those who start in online business fail. They don’t only fail; they fail miserably. They fail to make money online, and on top of that, they lose money buying useless courses. Worse yet, they buy awesome IM courses and never take the time to try out the techniques they learn.

My team members tell me I have no business sense. If you want to make money, you gotta sell, and if Joe Schmoe doesn’t take action, that’s his problem.

I beg to differ: I call it morals. Sorry, but if you’re not going to use a powerful, high-end product, I’m not going to sell it to you.

I flew to California this Memorial Day weekend to go home-searching. My wife & I decided to make a move to the bay area. The flight was long, and I had some time to reflect. I’ve always wanted to share my MLM business with others, but it’s difficult to know who will actually succeed and who won’t.

That’s why I came up with the idea of free internet marketing training.

Every Monday, I’m going to start giving free IM webinars for online marketing beginners. Then, I’ll give another webinar – day of the week yet to be decided – for those who are more advanced. People who make an impression on me (because they’re there every week, and because they apply what they learn) will receive an invitation…

Does that make business sense?

If you’re interested in the free training, bookmark this page. I’ll place a sign up link on here soon.

Peace out for now. :-)
