Twitter Stuck at 2000 Followers – Can’t Follow Any More People?

Posted in How To... on Jun 06, 2009

Is your twitter stuck at 2000 followers, and you can’t follow any more people?

This is the number one complaint I’ve heard from new twitter users.  You want to gain more followers, and you get stuck at 2000…

So do you have to wait until the number of followers you have magically goes up to 2000?  Well, no.  Thankfully, there’s a really cool tool you can use to fix this problem.

I’ve tried logging in to this page…it never works for me

Anyways..what is the limit lift on Twitter to start following more than 2000?

Basically, while you’re under 2000 followers, you want to add slowly. Back when I wrote this post I think it was something like 110% – that is, you could follow up to 110% of your followers. So if you had 3000 followers, you could follow 3300 safely (you could do more than that, but that was just “safe”). So if you want to lift the 2000-follower limit, start to unfollow people who are not following you back, and then follow more people again…until your followers get to a good number. Hope that helps!
